I was worried the bag would be too heavy for my small tank, but the grain texture is nice and smooth—plants rooted without floating away. It's definitely not a nutrient soil, but it works perfectly as a stable base layer.

The grains are consistently sized, which made it easy to spread an even layer across the bottom. My stem plants have anchored quickly without any clouding issues.

The bag was heavier than I expected, so that's a solid amount for the price. Since it's inert, I know my water chemistry stays exactly where I want it, which is perfect for my sensitive fish. My plants' roots are gripping it well after a few weeks.
