Took a bit of fiddling with my CO2 levels, but once I got it dialed in, the leaves started turning that deep crimson everyone talks about. Even in soft water, it's put out steady new growth without melting back.

After a week under my strong light setup, the tips are already showing that deep wine-red hue I was chasing—it's genuinely striking. Yes, it needs CO2 and soft water, but if you can give it that, the color payoff is absolutely worth the extra effort.

Finally, a Rotala macrandra that arrived healthy and intact, with strong roots that took hold immediately. The color started deepening to a rich red within a week under my high lights and CO2. A tiny bit of melting on lower leaves, but the new growth is phenomenal.
