Anubias barteri var. barteri (potted plant)

This plant from West Africa is an undemanding plant. It grows somewhat larger than Anubias barteri var. nana but is grown in the same conditions. From 25-45 cm tall and a creeping rhizome from 10-15 cm or more. Anubias barteri varies considerably in terms of size and leaf shape.

Like other Anubias-species, it is best planted in a shady spot to minimize algae growth on the leaves. It is also suitable for terrariums and paludariums. Herbivorous fish do not eat the very tough and robust leaves.

Jacob ★★★★★

Took a gamble on this potted anubias since I’ve killed more plants than I’ve kept alive, but the rhizome arrived solid and the leaves are already pushing past 10 cm. It’s been two weeks in a low-light tank and it hasn’t melted at all — exactly the undemanding grower the description promised.

William ★★★★★

The leaves on this one are noticeably bigger than the nana variety I’ve kept before, so it fills out the midground nicely. It arrived well-rooted in the pot and hasn't melted a bit after a week in my tank.

Sofia R. ★★★★★

The rhizome arrived with three solid anchoring points already established, so I just wedged it between two rocks and it hasn't budged. It's pushing out a new leaf every couple weeks in my low-tech tank, and the dark green color really pops against the gravel.
