Tropica Anubias var. nana on Lava Rock

Anubias barteri var. nana is a small, attractive plant which thrives in all conditions. It originates from Cameroon and will reach 5-10 cm height. The rhizome will be 10-15 cm or more. It grows slowly, and the leaves survive for several years, giving slow-growing algae the chance to become established. The best result is achieved by planting on a stone or tree root. If planted on the bottom the rhizome must not be covered because it tends to rot.

It flowers frequently under water and will thrive in shady places, where other plants will not. It is not eaten by herbivorous fish.

Samuel G. ★★★★★

I've had this in my low-tech tank for a month now and the rhizome is already sending out new leaves. The rock base makes it so easy to place anywhere without worrying about substrate.

Victoria G. ★★★★★

The rhizome arrived firmly attached to the lava rock, and the plant is already showing new growth after just a week. It’s stayed small and bushy, exactly the 5-10 cm height I wanted for the foreground of my tank.

Michael V. ★★★★☆

The lava rock is a nice touch, keeps the plant secure and easy to place in my tank. It's already about 6 cm tall, so it filled in the spot I wanted right away. Only wish the rock were a bit larger for more dramatic anchoring.
