Category: Aquarium Plants

Sagittaria subulata from South America is an ideal, undemanding foreground plant whose short runners form a compact group. Place individual plants 2-4 cm apart. This plant may cause problems because in certain conditions it suddenly grows to a height of 50 cm when it grows older. But if it is then moved into the background it may become low again. In the aquarium it sometimes sends a long flower stem to the surface, and small white flowers unfold just above the water surface.

Olivia ★★★★★

Planted these about two weeks ago and they’re already forming a dense little carpet just like described—each seedling sends out runners within days. The leaves are a nice bright green, and my cherry shrimp love hiding in the clumps.

Julian Z. ★★★★★

The runners have already started spreading into a nice little cluster, just like the description said they would. I'm impressed with how quickly they settled in. Very happy with how easy these are to care for.

Penelope ★★★★★

The short runners really do form a tight mat just as described once I spaced the plugs about 3 cm apart. The plant adapted quickly to my low-tech tank and started spreading within two weeks.
