Category: Aquarium Plants

Cryptocoryne parva from Sri Lanka is the smallest of all Cryptocorynes (only 3-6 cm tall and a roset less than 5-8 cm wide). It is one of the few species that does not significantly change its leaf shape and colour depending on cultivation conditions. It needs more light than most other Cryptocorynes because it almost loses its leaf blade underwater. So it must never be overshadowed by other plants. Individual plants should be planted a few centimetres apart, and after about six months they will form a cohesive low group of plants. Recommended for foreground planting.

These tiny rosettes are just over an inch tall and look incredible carpeting the front of my tank. The leaves haven't melted at all during the first week, which is a pleasant surprise for a crypt.

Finally got these planted in the foreground and they're already sending out runners. The tiny rosettes stay under 5 cm wide, which is exactly what I needed to keep the tank looking open.

This little Crypt parva stays so compact and low, it’s perfect for the foreground of my 10-gallon without ever overgrowing. The leaves are a deep, consistent green, and it rooted itself within just a few days. Finally a foreground plant that doesn’t need constant trimming.
